ABOUT 

Nate Self graduated from West Point in 1998 & served on active duty in Germany, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He is the former U.S. Army special operations officer who led his fellow Rangers during a ferocious 15-hour fire-fight in Afghanistan to rescue a fallen Navy SEAL. This battle became known as the Battle of Takur Ghar (translated "Tall Mountain"). As a result of this combat action, Nate received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. His platoon's story was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, NBC's Dateline, and in several other video and literary publications.

After his service, Nate co-founded The Praevius Group, a company providing leadership development and technology solutions. Nate recently led the design of a military-themed mobile game app called “TroopTrax," and currently leads the development of an experience-based leadership simulation called "Case-Ex."

 

Nate authored the memoir “Two Wars,” currently in feature film development. He also co-authored a compilation of combat stories entitled “A Platoon Leader’s Tour.”

Nate spends a portion of his time speaking & interacting with organizations on the topics of leadership, resilience, decision-making, and mentoring. He consults to organizations in science & technology, government, healthcare, and business. Nate lives in Texas with his wife and their four children.
